Composting green waste

Today, at the palace Byzantines, was a ceremony that marked the beginning of the project’Establishment of composting and selective disposal in Kotor, Tivat, Budva and Herceg Novi’. The project is the work of the Public utility company-Kotor, in partnership with utility companies from neighboring municipalities: Tivat, Budva, Herceg Novi and the NGO ’Delfin’. The project is worth 443.427 euros, and its implementation will improve the storage and management of green waste.

The Public utility company-Kotor will provide the human and technical capacities for the establishment of composting green waste from the area of four municipalities in Montenegro, which are partners in the project.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Kotor, Mrs Marija Maja Ćatović was also one of the participants at the ceremony, together with the Advisor for the Environment in the European Union Delegation, Mr Velibor Spalević, Director of the Public utility company-Kotor, Mr Zoran Mrdak, Project manager, Mrs Jelena Radunović, and the president of the NGO ‘Delfin’, Mrs Ljilja Radunović, as well as the representatives of the utility companies from Tivat, Budva and Herceg Novi.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Kotor, Mrs Marija Maja Ćatović, has supported the Project stating:

‘This Project represents an advanced way of thinking of the municipalities of Boka bay regarding the processing of green and organic waste and obtaining compost. Proportional to the amount of green waste, municipalities will return the compost to be used for food and care of flowers and ornamental plants in the green areas. I am glad that in this way we can establish the basis for future cooperation on similar projects that can be financed from pre-accession funds. I sincerely hope that the results of this project will significantly contribute to a brighter appearance of green spaces and that we will all be satisfied with a new approach to these important environmental issues’.
