THE PRESIDENT AND SECRETARY OF THE MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY OF KOTOR DRAGICA PEROVIĆ AND MAJA MRŠULJA ATTENDED THE FIRST REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT OF THE WESTERN BALKANS
The president and secretary of the Municipal Assembly of Kotor Dragica Perović and Maja Mršulja participated in the work of the First Regional Conference of Local Self-Government of the Western Balkans, held in Sremska Mitrovica on May 29th.Representatives of local self-governments from Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia discussed a series of topics relevant to strengthening regional cooperation in the Western Balkan countries.
They discussed the importance local units have in implementing regional development measures, influencing regional cooperation on small and medium-sized businesses, and cooperation between central and local authorities.
According to President of the Municipal Assembly of Kotor Dragica Perović, the conference has affirmed the political, security and economic conditions of regional cooperation as an important link on the road to EU membership.
Regional commonality, as stressed, should be developed by strengthening business cooperation, realization of joint programs of economic development in various fields, such as the production of healthy food, the strengthening of tourism resources.
The Recommendation of the Local Governments Conference is to manage the currency "faster, cheaper and more accessible", and the framework of their work must be supported by political stability and legal certainty.
