First meeting of partners in the project "Better approach to growth: clusters and competitiveness-networking in the Adriatic region" - BACAR

The first meeting of the representatives of the partners in the project "Better approach to growth: Clusters and competitiveness-networking in the Adriatic region" - BACAR was held in Kotor on 24 and 25.08.2017. years.

Project partners whose overall goal is to "strengthen institutional infrastructure and services in the SME sector in order to strengthen competitiveness through the construction of cluster access in the following areas: creative industry, tourism and rural development" are: Kotor Municipality as lead partner, Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro Gore, Public institution RERA SD for development of Split-Dalmatia County, Ministry of Economy / Economy of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton / County and Chamber of Commerce of Republic of Srpska-Regional Chamber of Commerce Trebinje.

Project partners reported on the project activities carried out in the first quarter of the project implementation. The working methodology for the establishment of clusters was considered, the plan of activities for the next 6 months was analyzed and adopted, the Visibility and Communication Plan presented and adopted.

On the second day of the meeting in the meeting hall of the Municipality of Kotor, a press conference was held on the occasion of the start of the project implementation.

Media representatives were addressed by the Vice President of the Municipality of Kotor Branko Nedović, project manager of the Branch Joint Secretariat in Herceg Novi INTERREG IPA CBC Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 2014-2020 Dragan Djurisic, coordinator of the Office for International Cooperation of the Municipality of Kotor and project manager in the project Bacara Jelena Stjepčević, representatives of public institutions RERA SD for the development of the Split-Dalmatian county Srecko workers and a representative of the Ministry of economy / economy Herzegovina-Neretva Canton / county Maid Ljubovic.

During the implementation of the 'BACAR' project, it is envisaged that clusters and their cross-border network become active members of the EEN network. SME clustering and networking at the regional level will enhance competition based on local potentials and will facilitate the link to the international market.

Additionally, grouping or clustering of small and medium-sized enterprises will increase negotiating power with state authorities, financial institutions and horizontally towards customers of their products or services.

Project activities Bacar predict and investment in the renovation and equipping of institutions for support-equipping new centers to support clustering in Kotor, Split and Mostar and furnishing new offices to support clustering in Podgorica and Trebinje and Medium textile and agricultural schools and central tourist and catering school In Mostar where advisors and experts will provide support in the areas of leadership of best practices, research, training for the focus area of the cluster concept.

The project is implemented within the INTERREG IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program Croatia-BiH-Montenegro 2014-2020 and the priority axis 'Strengthening competitiveness and development of the business environment in the program area'. It represents one of the 20 selected projects within the first call. The total budget of the project is 1,019,844 Euros and co-financed by the European Union of 85 per cent, of which the allocation of budget by country: Montenegro 30 percent, Croatia 34 percent and Bosnia and Herzegovina 36 percent.

 The duration of the project is 27 months (June 2017 - August 2019).
