AN OFFICE FOR COMMUNICATION WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES IS BEING ESTABLISHED

After democratic changes in Kotor, the local government is no longer distant from the citizens. It as the time to stop the alienation of local government from the people, to encourage citizens to run local government, and to identify and solve problems in the cooperation of citizens with local government.

The new local authorities turned a new page. We will meet all citizens because we do not lie to anyone. All citizens are welcome because we can look everybody in the eye. The Mayor of the Kotor, Vladimir Jokić, the President of the Assembly of the Municipality, as well as the Vice-Presidents of the Municipality of Kotor communicated with more than 400 citizens, their representatives and other interested persons. The leaders of the new local government visited almost every local community, listened to the citizens and became informed about the problems that burden the economic life of Kotor.

We want to show the truth in practice, and it says that the people are the landlords of the new authorities, that the Municipality is the home of all citizens of Kotor, whose keys will not be derailed from their hands. The voice of the people is the guiding star of the new municipal authority in Kotor and accordingly we take measures that will enable it to be heard openly and daily, as well as have authority over the entire administration.

In order to ensure genuine local self-government and a constant mutual influence, a special office for communication with local communities is being established. It will be a mechanism to hear local problems directly from the citizens and to react in a timely manner to their elimination, which will also mean that the political influence on the local communities is adequately translated.

The office for communication with the local communities will also serve to adapt the work of the local administration to the specificities of each area. The best way to improve public services of a municipality and reduce the cost of providing it is to hear about problems and needs directly from citizens.
