Mayors for Peace

Town of Kotor has become a full member of the international organization "Mayors for Peace", which has 6 206 cities from all over the world, on August 1st, 2014, at the annual conference in Hiroshima (Japan),by signature of the President Mrs Marija Ćatović,This organization is created in 1982 at the session of the UN on disarmament held in New York, at the suggestion of Mayor Takeshi Araki fromf Hiroshima.In order that the world may know the danger of nuclear weapons the initiative was launched whose activities are aimed at connecting cities, different cultures, with special emphasis on young people and develop of their awareness of the consequences of nuclear weapons.In April this year, Kotor was visited by the Peace Boat, which by sailing through the ports around the world promotes the principles of organization "Mayors for Peace".Mrs Marija Ćatović is the first mayor from Montenegro member of this organization.
