15.04.2014.
MEMORANDUM OF IMPROVING LGBT rights

The Minister for Human and Minority Rights of the Government of Montenegro, Mr Suad Numanović and the Mayor of the Municipality of Kotor, Mrs Marija Maja Ćatović, have signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the interest of developing a partnership between the government and the LGBT community, which should promote human rights and improve the status of LGBT people in society.

The Minister, Mr Numanović, has expressed confidence that the other municipalities will show democratic capacity, not just by signing the memorandum, but also by practical examples, and a high degree of tolerance for vulnerable populations.

''It is no coincidence that the Memorandum was signed in Kotor, the peace messengers city, a city of multifaith and multi-ethnic harmony, the UNESCO city'', said the Mayor of the Municipality of Kotor, Mrs Marija Ćatović.

The Advisor to the Prime Minister of Montenegro for human rights and protection from discrimination, Mr Jovan Kojičić, said that Kotor has repeatedly demonstrated that it is a city that accepts diversity, and in the same time it leads in the protection of the vulnerable and minority groups and human rights.
