Press conference on the occasion of signing the contract for the design and construction of a joint plant for wastewater treatment in the municipality of Kotor and Tivat

Signing of the Contract between Contractor for the design and the construction joint WWTP for the municipalities Kotor and Tivat, companies WTE Wassertechnik and local water utilities companies Tivat and Kotor, was held on the 14th of February, 2014. in Tivat. The COntract was signed by: Ksenija Simunović on behalf of WTE Wassertechnik, Project Manager, Čedomir Lukić, Director of "Water and Sewerage" Tivat, Dragan Roganović, director of "Water and Sewerage" Kotor.  

The signing of the Contractor and the press conference was attended by Pius Fischer, the Ambassador of Germany to Montenegro, a representative of the German Development (KfW) bank of Montenegro, Zeljko Uljarević and Karl Dotter, a representative of the consulting company Lehmayer.

 

Signed Contract is worth 10,247 million euros and includes the design and construction of WWTP Kotor - Tivat, probation and training of local staff who will be responsible for future management. Construction costs will be borne by investors – the Municipality of Kotor in the amount of 41.54% and the Municipality of Tivat compared to 58.46%. Funding for the project has secured a loan from the German Development Bank (KfW).

During 2014. the preparation and review of the detailed design is planned, the resolution of property - legal relations on the location of future facilities on the Coast Đurašević in the Municipality of Tivat, and at the end of the year is planned to start the construction.

At the press conference, the Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Mr. Gvozdenović was the first who has adressed the media, welcoming the participants and stating the importance of the measures implemented within the project "Water Supply and Sanitation Adriatic Coast", implemented by Vodacom.

Ms Marija Maja Ćatović, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kotor addressed the audience by saying that the project is a crown because "the construction and putting into operation of the factory wastewater treatment plant we are going to realize the long-desired goal: clear water in one of the most beautiful bays in the world."

Miodrag Kankaraš, the Mayor of the Municipality of Tivat talked about previous efforts in the implementation of the projects improvement of water and sewerage infrastructure in the municipality of Tivat .

Boris Vukovic, the executive director of Vodacom welcomed the participants on behalf of Vodacom, and said that the preparatory work is completed. He has expressed the hope that the work of drafting and revision of project documentation will be completed by the end of 2014., thus creating conditions for the start of construction of the WWTP Kotor – Tivat.

 

Representatives of the WTEa, Rauch and Faust have addressed to the audience the information about the company and about the impressive fact that the company WTE has built 102 facilities in Europe and the future WWTP Kotor - Tivat is another project in Montenegro.
